Drainage ditch inspections are done yearly by the Knox County Commissioners, the county engineer and the Knox Soil & Water Conservation District. From left are Rob Clendening, KSWCD; Jim Henry, Knox County engineer; a summer intern, Clint Cochran, Centerburg, who will be a junior civil engineering student next fall at the University of Akron; and commissioners Teresa Bemiller, Roger Reed and Allen Stockberger. The ditches are designed by county engineers and upkeep is by the KSWCD, which contracts the work to private firms. Landowners along the ditch are taxed for the upkeep. This ditch is on Barnes Road, just southwest of Centerburg. The banks have been mowed, there is no erosion and the ditch is clear. The group inspected three ditches in a tour Thursday afternoon.
